• First things first….get a WordPress account.  On the right side under, “meta” you can click “log in” which will take you to a page where you can register.
  • Email talllbridge@rocketmail.com if you are not yet a contributor and would like to be with a little bit of information about yourself, or anything.
  • Once you are an author or contributor, click “log in” or “site admin” under “meta” to access your “dashboard” or just log into WordPress.com.  You can cultivate your profile, create your own personal blogs like this one, try “tag surfing” and “blog surfing”.  Up at the top will be a list of your blogs.  To make a new shredsomething post, goto the shredsomething dashboard.
  • Perhaps the most interesting thing is the categories and tags that are now possible on shredsomething.  If something falls into one of the categories, please tag it, or categorize it.  Over time these posts will accumulate and provide easy access to pasts posts.  Often times under catagories it just lists the most commonly used.  Be sure to click all to make sure you have access to the most possible.
  • Try and incorporate hyperlinks as much as possible into your posting. This will enable people to easily find more sources for information. For instance if I am talking about the artist Alex Grey, I will hyperlink his name for easy access. Similarly, we can link images as much as possible to corresponding websites. Also when you link be sure to select if you would like for it to open in the same window, or a new one. This is one nice feature from wordpress.

  • Another important thing is that because of the layout of this blog, when you insert and image, if it runs into the column it is easy to fix by scaling it down in your post. It won’t do this every time, but some times.
  • When you start a new post or page, you have to publish it once. After that, all that is necessary when editing is to save it.
  • Have fun and tap into all your creative faculties. Sometimes it can be fun to put a lot of time into a post, making it almost like a small booklet for somebody to read. Think about all the things that can be linked, videos or images than can be included, etc, etc. It is a good place to test out different styles of writing too.
