Absolutely! One of my favorite times between first contact and totality is watching those last angel beams of light escape through the mountains and valleys on the moons surface. Light just barely making the cut off to reach earth.
-

Diamond Ring Effect / Bailys Beads. The lowest valleys shine the last light of the eclipsed sun’s face, or photosphere.

“God almighty this is a new low for wired.
The moon is 3476 Kilometers wide. In the image above it is 436 pixels wide.
That means 1 Km = 0.1254 pixels.
So a mountain would have to be 8 km high to be one pixel on the screen. Are there any 8 Km mountains on the moon?”

I wouldn’t worry too hard Josh, Though i love it, Wired is brought to us by the same people that bring us Vouge, GQ & Golf Digest

So sweet. Annimation makes it look about as easy as it was… so awesome building thar space with so many beautiful people. Hooray teamwork.
-
thedarkcleft
Teamwork. I like noticing how the crowd dwindled toward completion.
Think there is anyway to slow it down, just a tiny bit?
-
Ms.Wonderland
This is incredible and beautiful and I want to show it to everybody that I know. Thank you, Preston.
(ps if you have a crappy enough pc and internet connection it goes sufficiently slower, just a little tech tip)

Remember when that mantis landed on me in Ben’s backyard? Then, the next day the cover to B&W Photography shows up at my door with a mantis on the cover!
Priceless….Since then, I was blasting tunes DJing by our pool in Dallas and at the other end of the pool my friend found a dancing mantis lol!!!

explosive. cool.
doing it with moss would be nice, too:
needs:
1 can of beer
1/2 teaspoon sugar
Several clumps garden mossYou will also need a plastic container (with lid),
a blender and a paintbrush
_________________________________________________To begin the recipe, first of all gather together several clumps of moss (moss can usually be found in moist, shady places) and crumble them into a blender. Then add the beer and sugar and blend just long enough to create a smooth, creamy consistency. Now pour the mixture into a plastic container.
Find a suitable damp and shady wall on to which you can apply your moss milkshake. Paint your chosen design onto the wall (either free-hand or using a stencil). If possible try to return to the area over the following weeks to ensure that the mixture is kept moist. Soon the bits of blended moss should begin to re-couperate into a whole rooted plant – maintaining your chosen design before eventually colonising the whole area.

It just took me twenty min to get through all of these but I recommend it to everyone. There’s some pretty interesting images here. I especially like all the Chinese terrorist police on segways…… Not real intimidating
